What a ride! It’s crazy to think that I’ve been a part of the A-Team for 3 years now. Each year we’re growing stronger and stronger and, as a former apprentice, it’s been amazing to see how much we have progressed over recent years!

01. Getting Started With Absolute
I first started at the agency as Junior Accounts Apprentice, studying the AAT Level 3 qualification like my line manager, Daisy, did when she joined the company more than 9 years ago. I’ll be completely honest, when I first joined the company, I wasn’t the most confident and my understanding of accounting and finance was very minimal. Despite this, the team welcomed me with open arms and were all for helping me not only within my role, but throughout the agency to help me get to grips with digital marketing. It’s one thing that I had never really considered – that I would also need an understanding of all the services to be able to carry out my day-to-day activities. It’s a lot more intricate than I had ever imagined!
02. Getting To Grips With My Role
Absolute Digital Media has supported my journey every step of the way, and still do to this very date. When I first started, I would receive regular training sessions from Daisy who, at the time, was the companies Finance Manager. Daisy taught me how to manage the software we use, the processes I needed to follow across the board and how to successfully carry out my day-to-day tasks – which I’m forever grateful for! Daisy was super patient in training me and was always there if I needed to ask a question. I was told from day one that no question is a silly question, and that really stuck with me throughout the early days of my career. It was also great to know that I had someone beside me who was able to support me if I was ever unsure about what I had to do.
03. Team Support
Throughout my training, I also got the opportunity to speak with the different departments at the agency to get a real understanding of what we do and how we do it. All of the teams were (and still are) so enthusiastic about the work they carry out, which is what makes it really special. All of the teams were also super encouraging and patient with me when it came to meeting our clients and getting to know who was who and from what company (it’s a lot to take in at once!) All the training and support I received has allowed me to complete tasks independently and take on more complex jobs to broaden my knowledge and skillset.
04. Completing My Apprenticeship
2020 was a tough year for everyone and we’re not shy about sharing much it set us back. I also had a bumpy road whilst studying for my Level 3 AAT qualification due to my provider unfortunately going into liquidation mid-year. Initially, this left me quite disheartened, and I had almost no motivation to complete my apprenticeship. Despite everyone being affected by the pandemic, the whole team remained super supportive of me, pushing me to reach my goal and quite literally driving the enthusiasm back into me. This really put things into perspective, showing me some of the amazing relationships I had built up with my colleagues over the years. I then went on to complete my apprenticeship with a Merit and passing the End Point Assessment with a distinction!
05. Getting My Qualification
After an amazing, yet challenging 3 and a half years, I had finally gained my AAT qualification which led to me recently being promoted to Finance Manager. This is an incredible achievement for me and one that I am so proud of. My new role has pushed me to continue performing at a high level, striving to help the business grow in all directions. Within it, I have also been given further responsibility which will help me to increase my knowledge within finance and accounting.
06. Looking Towards The Future
I’m currently studying the AAT Level 4 apprenticeship which is due to be completed by summer 2022. My goals are to complete this, and then look at the possibility of studying the ACCA qualification to become a chartered accountant within the next 5 years.
It’s true when I say that none of my goals or aspirations would have been possible to achieve without the ongoing support I have received from the whole team at Absolute Digital Media. They have been amazing in helping me progress from day one and I’m so happy to be a part of such a kind, integrated team.
