Our New Creative Content Writer, Olivia!
Now that we’ve gone fully remote and are hiring up and down the UK, we find ourselves continuously on the hunt for new, fresh talent to join the team. Having recently expanded our PPC team by two additional team members and introduced our PR team, we’re now looking to hire additional Content Account Manager’s to support our SEO team. We took some time to find out more about Olivia’s background, experience and what she hopes to achieve in her role at the agency as Content Account Manager.
Hi Oliva. So, What Past Experience Do You Have In Marketing?
“I’d been interested in marketing for a few years, but I wasn’t sure which direction I wanted to take. I dabbled in social media marketing for charities, a tiny bit of email marketing for a local Women’s Institute group, but it was content that really grabbed me. My main experience in the content marketing world was with a global crafting company as their Digital Content Executive. It really gave me the building blocks and the drive to chase SEO, content strategy and writing for web.”
And Where Did Your Passion Begin?
“I’ve loved reading and writing ever since I was little. I would devour books and write my own short stories, which led me to an English Studies with Creative Writing degree. At the time, I wasn’t entirely sure how I could put my love for writing into a career, until we studied a module on real world applications of English. From there, I saw how useful writing could be in marketing and I went on to do some internships, start up my own blog and ultimately, pursue a role in content marketing.”
Cool! What Inspired You To Start Working In The Industry?
“I was a lover of reading blogs as a late teen and I still am now! They were my first port of call if I wanted to learn a new recipe, find out about the newest mascara or just have a nosy into someone else’s life. I’m a bit of a content sponge, just soaking everything up and constantly reading, watching videos and sharing infographics, so I knew it was an industry I wanted to go into.”
Sounds Interesting. What Kind Of Projects Have You Worked On In The Past, And Which Ones Are You Looking Forward To Getting Stuck Into?
“I’m lucky that my own personal blog gets a bit of attention, so I get to work on Instagram content for lots of local businesses (as well as one of my favourite baking brands) and longform blog content for some really amazing brands. But outside of my personal blog, one of my favourite projects to work on was the content area for a global crafting brand’s site. It had a big facelift and I created lots of new, fresh content to drive new customers. It ended up getting nominated for an award, so I was pretty chuffed!
Going forward, I’m excited to work with lots of different clients and learn more about what they do, how they communicate with their audience, and how I can help them nurture and expand that audience.”
What Skills Do You Have & Where Have You Applied Them?
“I’m a bit of a nerd for all things brand voice and styling, so I’m really adaptable to new brand voices and I love to develop a brand’s writing style to fit their niche. I also think the research skills that I learned through my Multimedia Journalism Master’s degree are useful because it means that I’m not afraid to go deep diving for information or statistics that will completely transform a piece of writing.”

“I’m really looking forward to getting properly stuck in here at Absolute. The SEO team are all fantastic, so patient when I ask a million questions and really supportive. The clients sound so interesting too, and it’s going to be great to get to know them more and learn about what they do. I’m also looking forward to learning new things about SEO and continuing to grow with the team!”
