Peak Season Traffic Up 786% and Transactions Up 2,742%
How Absolute Digital Media built a firework retailer’s season on a clean profile, occasion-led category pages and content that converts.

What did Absolute Digital Media achieve for Let's Party Fireworks?
Absolute Digital Media's SEO campaign for Let's Party Fireworks delivered +786% peak month organic traffic (1,727 to 15,298 sessions), +2,742% transactions (season on season), +2,036% organic revenue (season on season) and +88% organic traffic (year on year).

A retailer that earns its year in about ten weeks
Let’s Party Fireworks is one of the UK’s largest firework retailers, selling rockets, sparklers, fountains, cakes, barrages, selection boxes and display packs.
The commercial shape of the business is the thing that defines the marketing. Demand concentrates between late October and the new year, and the trading window is measured in weeks rather than quarters. A campaign that produces results in month four has missed the year. Everything has to land before the season opens, and Let’s Party Fireworks committed to exactly that discipline.

The choices that shaped the account

Clean the profile before building on it
The strategy was set and led by Ben Austin. The first decision was to remove the irrelevant placements the domain had accumulated before acquiring anything new, so the season would run on a foundation of pure relevance. The rejected alternative is what almost every agency does with a seasonal ecommerce site under time pressure: leave the existing profile alone and build new placements on top. That approach stacks good signal on mixed signal, and in a category where the whole year rides on one quarter, the clean foundation is worth more than any number a report can show. What a profile is made of matters more than how large it is, and the season that followed proved the ordering right.

Segment the category by occasion, not by product
The largest strategic gain was refusing to treat this as one seasonal market. The obvious approach is to compete on generic firework terms and accept that the business lives on Bonfire Night. Instead the category was broken into the reasons people actually buy: quiet fireworks for people with pets and young children, gender reveal fireworks, smoke grenades, Diwali fireworks, selection boxes, garden fireworks. Each of those is a different buyer with a different concern, several of them buy outside November, and each needed its own page built around the specific worry driving the purchase. The quiet fireworks page reached position two on a term carrying 8,700 monthly searches. The gender reveal page reached position one on 3,500. Neither of those buyers is thinking about Bonfire Night, which is what strengthens the business across the calendar, not just the traffic in November.

Consolidate the blog rather than expand it
Blog performance was analysed, overlapping and low-value posts were redirected, and the estate was concentrated rather than grown. The rejected alternative was publishing more, which is the standard response and the wrong one when existing content is competing with itself. Consolidation concentrates ranking signal on the pages that can win, and it shortens the journey from an informational visit to a product page.

Contextual CTAs from content to checkout
Informational content was connected to the commercial pages with contextual calls to action placed at the points where a reader’s question had been answered and their intent had shifted. In a business with a ten-week window, the distance between a reader learning which fireworks are quiet enough for a nervous dog and that reader reaching a product page is a revenue variable, not a UX detail.

Schema as a trust layer
FAQ, organisation and author schema were deployed across the site. In a category selling a regulated, age-restricted, safety-sensitive product under the Fireworks Regulations 2004, structured data that states who the retailer is and who wrote the guidance does more than improve result formatting. It supplies the corroboration a cautious buyer is looking for, and it states the retailer’s position in a form that can be verified.

Outreach to relevance, not to metrics
Blogger outreach targeted niche-relevant, high-authority sites rather than chasing volume or headline domain scores. Having just built the foundation on relevance, every new placement was held to the same standard, so the profile the season ran on was clean from the first link to the last.
Who ran what
SEO strategy, led by Ben Austin
Ben Austin sequenced the campaign against the season rather than against a standard timeline: clean foundation first, occasion-led architecture second, conversion path third, everything landed before the window opened. Breaking one seasonal market into its real buying occasions is the decision that grew the peak 786% and put demand on the calendar outside it, which strengthens the business itself, not just the traffic.
Content, led by Alex Stott
Alex Stott built the occasion pages around the specific concern driving each purchase, quiet fireworks for nervous pets, gender reveals, Diwali, garden displays, every claim accurate to what the Fireworks Regulations 2004 allow to be sold and to whom. He consolidated the blog estate onto the posts that could win and connected them to the commercial pages at the moment intent shifts. The quiet fireworks page went from 23 sessions to 3,189 in the peak month on that work.
Digital PR and outreach, led by Jack Hawtin
Jack Hawtin ran the blogger outreach campaign the client’s testimonial singles out, targeting niche-relevant, high-authority sites and holding every placement to the relevance standard the foundation was built on. The profile the season ran on was clean from the first link to the last, and the peak month’s 15,298 sessions arrived on it.
Technical SEO, led by Shofiur Rahman
Shofiur Rahman delivered the technical programme against the fixed window: the profile clean-up executed and verified, the blog consolidation implemented with redirects that preserved every signal worth keeping, and the FAQ, organisation and author schema deployed across the estate. In an age-restricted category, that structured trust layer is part of the selling, and all of it was live before the season opened.

Source: Ahrefs Site Explorer, UK, peak trading month sessions. The homepage did the heaviest lifting at position two on an 18,000-search term, growing from 540 to 10,475 peak-month sessions. The more instructive lines are the ones underneath it: quiet fireworks went from 23 sessions to 3,189, and smoke grenades, strobe fireworks and Diwali fireworks are new ranking assets built by the campaign, from nothing to hundreds of peak-month sessions each.
What seasonal retailers should take from this
What Let's Party Fireworks say
Frequently asked questions
How do you do SEO for a business with a short trading season?
By sequencing everything against the window rather than against a standard campaign timeline. Work that produces results in month four has missed the year. It also means resolving anything in the link profile or the content estate before the season opens, so peak trading runs on a clean foundation.
Does removing backlinks hurt rankings?
Removing irrelevant and low-quality links strengthens what the profile actually does for the site. Let’s Party Fireworks’ peak season traffic rose from 1,727 to 15,298 monthly sessions, up 786%, on a profile cleaned before it was built, because ranking systems assess what a profile is made of rather than how large it is.
Should a seasonal retailer only market during its season?
No. The larger opportunity is usually the demand sitting outside the peak. Segmenting a category by occasion rather than by product surfaces buyers who purchase at other times of year, which strengthens the business as well as growing the traffic.
What is keyword cannibalisation and how do you fix it?
It is several pages on the same site competing for the same query and splitting the ranking signal between them. The fix is consolidation, redirecting low-value pages and assigning each remaining page a single defensible query set, rather than publishing more content into the same overlap.
How do you market fireworks within the regulations?
By building the campaign inside the rules from the start. Fireworks are a regulated, age-restricted product under the Fireworks Regulations 2004, and every category page, guide and claim has to be accurate to what may lawfully be sold and to whom. Organisation, FAQ and author schema then state who the retailer is and who wrote the guidance, which is the corroboration a cautious buyer in a safety-sensitive category is looking for. Correct is also what converts.
How should blogger outreach targets be selected?
On relevance first. Volume and headline authority scores are easy to buy and easy to get wrong, and a profile rebuilt on irrelevance reproduces what the clean-up removed, with better-looking numbers.
How do you convert informational traffic into sales?
By connecting the content to the commercial pages at the point where the reader’s question has been answered and their intent has changed. Contextual calls to action placed at that moment shorten the path to checkout. Content that ranks and does not convert is a cost.
How quickly can SEO deliver before a seasonal peak?
Faster where the work is remediation and page building rather than authority accumulation. Cleaning a link profile, consolidating overlapping content and building occasion-specific category pages all produce effects within a quarter, which is what makes them the right tactics for a business with a fixed window.
