Local SEO for business to business in Dubai

Local SEO for B2B, where the address decides the deal

B2B is the least local-looking sector and the one where an address matters most, because in the UAE your licence and your emirate can decide whether a prospect is able to buy from you at all. A free zone company has historically been unable to sell directly into the mainland without a distributor, an agent or a branch, and Dubai only created a permit route for that in 2025. Your listing is part of how a buyer checks you are real.

What local SEO means for B2B

Local SEO for a B2B business is less about map packs and more about verifiability: a Google Business Profile that confirms you exist at a real address, consistent citations in a country with no postcode system, and location pages that make it obvious which markets you can actually serve. That last point is the commercial one. Because licence type and emirate determine who you may sell to, being clear about where you are licensed saves your sales team from enquiries it cannot lawfully serve.

Underneath all of it sits one fact that shapes local search in this country: the UAE has no postal code system. Dubai and several northern emirates use Makani, a ten digit address identifying a building entrance, and Abu Dhabi uses Onwani instead. A PO Box is where post arrives, not where a business is. So the consistency local search depends on has to be enforced deliberately, on the parts of an address that do exist. Our local SEO page covers the method in full.

    How the work runs

Profile, citations, pages, in that order

The order matters, because correcting a profile and the citations behind it is the fastest gain available: you are fixing information rather than earning authority. Location pages come next, since they can rank for communities and services no profile field covers. Reviews run across all of it and never stop. What we will not do is buy citations in bulk or incentivise reviews, both of which work briefly and then cost you the listing. Talk to our team about what your local footprint looks like today.

    Questions

    Local SEO for B2B, answered

Does a B2B business really need local SEO?

Yes, though for a different reason than a shop does, because a B2B buyer uses your address, your profile and your citations to confirm you are a real business at a real place before they will start a procurement conversation.

It is verification more than discovery, and it is cheap to get right.

Does our free zone licence limit who can buy from us?

It may well, and it is worth establishing before you build a pipeline, because a free zone company has historically been unable to sell directly into the UAE mainland without appointing a distributor, an agent or setting up a mainland branch.

Dubai created a permit route in 2025 and the other emirates did not, so the answer depends on where you are licensed.

Should we list every office we have?

Every staffed one, yes, because Google expects one profile per location where staff actually work, and each emirate licenses separately so a second office is usually a distinct licensed entity with its own address.

Listing a virtual or unstaffed address is the fastest route to a suspension.

How does this help lead quality rather than lead volume?

By making it obvious which markets and licence arrangements you can serve, so the enquiries that arrive are ones your sales team can actually progress rather than ones somebody has to disqualify a week later.

A lead you cannot lawfully serve has cost you twice.

    What is local SEO?

Local SEO is the work of making a business visible in searches with a place attached, whether that is a map pack, Google Maps itself or a query carrying a community name, and it turns on consistency rather than on content volume.

Much of it happens outside your website, in listings and directories you may not know exist.

How does local SEO work in a country with no postcodes?

Carefully, because the postcode is the field the entire citation industry uses to confirm that two listings describe the same business, and the UAE does not have one, so consistency has to be enforced on the parts of the address it does have.

In practice that means the community name, building, unit, the Makani or Onwani number and the emirate, in the same order and the same spelling every single time.

What is a Makani number, and does Google use it?

A Makani number is a ten digit geographic address used in Dubai and several northern emirates which identifies a specific building entrance, and although a Google listing has no dedicated field for it, it is the most precise way to state where you are.

Abu Dhabi uses Onwani instead, which assigns each building its own identifier and QR code, so an address format that works in Dubai does not simply transfer.

Our office is a flexi-desk in a free zone. Can we still rank locally?

Usually yes, but it is the single most common reason a profile in this market fails verification or gets suspended, because a shared free zone address is not a place a customer can visit and Google treats it accordingly.

Where you genuinely go to customers rather than host them, configuring the listing as a service area business is both the honest answer and the one that ranks.

Why was our Google Business Profile suspended?

Most often because the address could not be confirmed, the profile address did not match the trade licence, or the listing claimed a category or a service area the business cannot actually support from where it sits.

Reinstatement is a documentation exercise rather than an argument, and appealing without fixing the underlying cause usually burns the appeal.

Should our listing be in English or Arabic?

Both, and for most businesses here in that order of priority, because the population is overwhelmingly expatriate and searches predominantly in English, while an Arabic listing reaches an audience the English one does not.

The real risk is transliteration: one brand spelled three ways across directories reads as three different businesses.

We have branches in more than one emirate. One profile or two?

Two, almost always, because each emirate licenses businesses separately, so a branch elsewhere is usually a distinct licensed entity at a distinct address, and Google expects one profile per staffed location in any case.

That means two sets of reviews, two citation footprints and two location pages to look after.

    How important are reviews?

Enormously, and more than most owners expect, because in a map pack the review count and the rating are the two things a searcher compares before they compare anything else, and they also influence what Google chooses to show.

We set up a consistent, compliant way of asking rather than a campaign that spikes and stops, and we never buy or incentivise reviews.
