James Wood’s experience

Authority is one of the first things I assess because, in competitive sectors, it is often one of the biggest factors limiting a website's ability to rank
I studied IT at college before joining Absolute Digital Media through a Digital Marketing apprenticeship, where I started my career as part of the link building team. Over the following eight years, I progressed to Outreach Manager and later Head of Department, where I was responsible for developing our outreach processes, managing the team and delivering campaigns for clients across highly competitive, regulated industries. In 2025, I moved into SEO management, taking ownership of client strategy and long-term organic growth. My background in link building continues to shape how I approach SEO today. Authority is one of the first things I assess because, in competitive sectors, it is often one of the biggest factors limiting a website's ability to rank.

What James does here

By combining technical expertise with a data-led approach, I help businesses make confident decisions that support sustainable growth through search

I manage SEO strategies for a diverse portfolio of clients across multiple industries. My role is to develop tailored strategies that improve organic visibility, increase qualified traffic and support long-term business growth.

I work closely with clients to understand changes in performance, identify opportunities and prioritise the work that will have the greatest impact. This includes keyword and competitor research, technical SEO audits, content planning, internal linking, schema implementation, site speed optimisation and improving overall website structure and user experience.

Alongside managing on-site SEO, I coordinate link building campaigns by briefing our outreach team on priority pages and target keywords. I also monitor Google's algorithm updates and industry trends to ensure clients receive informed, proactive advice. By combining technical expertise with a data-led approach, I help businesses make confident decisions that support sustainable growth through search.

What drives James

Businesses that invest in earning valuable links alongside strong technical SEO and content strategies are better positioned to compete in search

Link building remains an important part of a successful SEO strategy, particularly in competitive industries where authority can be the difference between ranking and being overlooked. The decline of low-quality placements has led some to question the value of link building, but quality and relevance still matter. Links from trusted, industry-relevant websites continue to strengthen authority and support organic growth. Businesses that invest in earning valuable links alongside strong technical SEO and content strategies are better positioned to compete in search.
