Social for automotive, where the stock is the content

A car is the most photogenic thing most businesses will ever sell, and here it turns over fast enough to fill a feed without anybody having to invent a content idea. The harder part is what happens next, because the enquiry arrives as a direct message rather than a form and most automotive businesses have nobody formally responsible for answering it.

    Why a specialist

Automotive social media is not generalist social media

Social for a car business is discovery and it is also production. The stock is the content, which means a walkaround filmed properly can serve the feed, the paid campaign and the marketplace listing at the same time, and the businesses that organise for that get three uses out of one afternoon. The second half is response, because an automotive enquiry on social arrives as a message at an unsociable hour and the business that answers first very often wins it. It is one of the disciplines on our social media offer, run for the businesses in our automotive work.

Two local realities shape the plan. The population turns over constantly, so there is a permanent audience of people who have just arrived and need a car and another about to leave and needing to sell one, and paid social reaches both far more precisely than search can. And language segments matter more here than on any other channel, because a feed is served to a person rather than typed into a box.

    How the work runs

Decide who answers, then fill the feed

The order surprises people. Before anything is posted we agree who owns the messages, how quickly they are answered and what happens out of hours, because a car business feed generates enquiries at eleven at night and an unanswered message is a lead somebody else is about to take. Then production, organised around reuse so a walkaround filmed properly serves the feed, the paid campaign and the listing at once. Then paid, which is where specific stock gets moved and a quiet servicing week gets filled.

Reporting runs on enquiries, test drives and bookings rather than followers, with message volume and response time alongside them because that is the part most often broken. Talk to our team about what your feed is currently asking somebody to do.

    Questions

    Automotive social media, answered

What does automotive social media cover?

The organic presence that makes somebody want a car or trust a workshop, the paid social that puts it in front of enough of the right people, and the response side that most automotive businesses have never formally assigned to anyone. The third one is usually where the leads are being lost.

It also covers the production, because the stock is the content and a walkaround filmed properly serves the feed, the paid campaign and the listing at once. Organising for that reuse is most of the efficiency.

Our enquiries come in as direct messages. Is that normal?

Entirely normal and increasingly the default, because somebody looking at a car at eleven at night will send a message rather than fill in a form, and in this market the business that replies first very frequently wins the enquiry. That makes response time a commercial decision.

We agree who owns it, how fast they answer and what happens out of hours before anything else is planned. A feed nobody answers is an expensive brochure.

Should the salespeople have their own accounts?

Usually yes, and it often outperforms the business account, because people buy a car from a person they have watched talk about cars rather than from a logo posting stock photographs twice a week. It needs structure rather than permission.

Agree what is shared, who owns the account if somebody leaves and how enquiries from it reach the business. Those three questions prevent almost all of the problems.

Does social work for a workshop, or only for stock?

It works for a workshop in a way most owners do not expect, because repair and restoration content is genuinely watchable, builds the trust that a servicing decision actually turns on, and reaches people long before anything is wrong with their car. Trust is the whole purchase in servicing.

Rental is different again and leans on destination, convenience and availability rather than on craft. We plan the three separately even when one company runs all of them.

Should we start with paid or organic?

Both, weighted to what you need, because paid social is the lever that moves specific stock or fills a quiet servicing week while organic is what makes somebody choose you over the business advertising next to you. Neither works especially well without the other.

Social also pairs directly with our SEO for Automotive work, because social creates the want and search catches it. If the two disagree about price or stock, you lose the buyer in between.

Does language matter more on social?

More than on any other channel, because a feed is served to a person rather than typed into a box, so the language somebody consumes content in is not necessarily the language they would use to search for the same thing. English still carries most of the commercial search.

Arabic and other languages earn their place on social far sooner than in search, and which ones depends entirely on who you sell to. Our delivery today is in English, and we will say so at the outset if another language is central.

How do you measure social for a car business?

On enquiries, messages answered, test drives, bookings and the stock that actually moved, rather than on followers or reach, because a car business can accumulate a very large audience of people who will never buy anything from it. Enthusiast attention is not the same thing as demand.

Message volume and response time are reported alongside the commercial numbers, since they are the part of the channel most often broken. Fixing them usually costs nothing at all.
