The Most-Cited Lending Page in UK AI Answers, Above Citizens Advice and Experian

When a borrower asks Google how to get a loan today, the AI Overview answers before the results do. Absolute Digital Media’s AI Visibility Management programme made Cashfloat, an FCA-authorised direct lender, the source it answers from: its payday loans page cited in 944 UK AI responses, more than any other page in the category.

The client

A direct lender that ranked on page one but was not the source

Cashfloat is an FCA-authorised direct lender offering short-term and bad credit loans to UK borrowers, with dedicated pages for payday, short-term, bad credit, same-day and instalment loans. It lends its own money, and its loan pages already held page one on their head terms. The next question was whether they would be the source when the answer is generated rather than listed.

Absolute Digital Media was appointed to run AI Visibility Management alongside the SEO retainer, which is reported on its own page.

The results

1,972 AI citations and the most-cited page in UK short-term lending

Citations are the number of UK AI responses that reference a cashfloat.co.uk page. Google AI Overviews are reported twice because Ahrefs tracks them separately for keyword-triggered searches and for question prompts. Share of voice is per brand against the named competitor set and does not sum to 100. All figures are from Ahrefs Brand Radar so each can be checked independently.

The choices that shaped the programme

01 Decision one

Audit and baseline before touching anything

An LLM brand audit established citation counts per platform, which pages were cited, which queries triggered them, and share of voice against the named lender set. Every figure on this page is a reading against that baseline. The rejected alternative was to start producing content and report on activity: without a baseline every improvement is an anecdote. The audit costs weeks and pays for itself at the first monthly report.

02 Decision two

Make the payday loans page the definitive answer

The page was rebuilt to state, in extractable form, what a payday loan is, who Cashfloat lends to, the amounts, the terms, the representative example, the affordability checks and the FCA authorisation, with FAQ and product schema. It is now cited 944 times, more than Citizens Advice’s page on the same subject. The rejected alternative was to build a library of borrowing guides and hope the equity flows to the product pages: in this category the systems cite the guide and name a bigger lender.

03 Decision three

Make authorisation and identity unambiguous

Organisation schema, FCA reference, registered details and consistent brand naming were aligned across the site and the off-site profile so the systems could confirm the lender is who it says it is. The rejected alternative was to assume the FCA register entry is enough: the systems do not look it up, they look for the signals on and around the site. An unambiguous entity is the difference between being cited and being mentioned.

04 Decision four

Reinforce the entity off-site

Editorial links and coverage from the SEO retainer’s outreach were directed at the same product claims and brand descriptions so the systems found the lender corroborated wherever they looked. The rejected alternative was to treat AI visibility as an on-site exercise: in a cautious category an uncorroborated claim is not cited, however well it is structured.

Frequently asked questions

GEO and AI visibility for lenders, answered

What does GEO own on this account, and what does the SEO page own?

GEO, which Absolute Digital Media delivers as AI Visibility Management, owns the citation and share of voice metrics: 1,972 AI citations across 132 pages, the per-platform breakdown, the loan pages cited, the queries they are cited on and share of voice on payday questions. The SEO page owns rankings and traffic. The two are reported separately and cross-linked.

Why is the payday loans page cited more than any other page in the category?

Because it answers the question a borrower and a regulator would both ask. It states what a payday loan is, who Cashfloat lends to, the amounts, the terms, the representative example, the affordability checks and the FCA authorisation, in extractable form with FAQ and product schema, and it is corroborated across an editorial link profile. The systems cite it 944 times. Citizens Advice’s page on the same subject is cited 238 times and Experian’s instant loans guide 195.

How do you measure AI visibility?

Two ways, both third-party. Citations: how many AI responses reference a page on the site, and how many distinct pages are referenced, per platform, with Google AI Overviews split between keyword-triggered searches and question prompts. Share of voice: how often the brand is mentioned relative to named competitors on a defined topic. Ahrefs Brand Radar supplies both, so a client can verify every figure independently.

Where does the brand appear in AI answers?

In Google AI Overviews on payday loan, payday loans uk, no refusal payday loans uk direct lenders, direct lender loans, short term loan, instant loan and the bad credit cluster, and in AI Overview answers to how to get instant loan in 5 minutes, where can I borrow money asap UK online, who will give a loan with bad credit and what is the best payday loan company in the UK. Those are the questions a borrower asks in the minutes before applying.

How does Cashfloat compare with other lenders on share of voice?

On payday questions in Google AI Overviews, Cashfloat holds a 45% share of voice, ahead of Lending Stream at 43% and QuidMarket at 40%, with Moneyboat the only brand ahead at 56%. In Perplexity on the same questions Cashfloat leads the named set at 60%.

Does ranking on Google mean you are cited in AI Overviews?

Not on its own, but on this account the two are aligned. The loan pages hold page one on their head terms, and the same pages are cited in the AI Overviews above the results. Ranking puts a page in the candidate set; being cited depends on whether the page answers cleanly and the lender is corroborated.

Is this compliant for an FCA-regulated lender?

It has to be. Every page and every off-site claim is written as a financial promotion, with the representative example and the risk warning where the rules require them. That discipline is also what makes the pages citable: the systems favour the source that qualifies its claims over the one that oversells.

Can you run the same programme for other lenders and regulated financial services brands?

Yes. Absolute Digital Media runs AI Visibility Management across FCA-regulated lending, broking, insurance and comparison, and the method is the same: audit and baseline, rebuild the product pages to answer the borrower’s question, structure them for extraction, make authorisation and identity unambiguous, reinforce the entity off-site, and measure citations monthly.

Is a charity the one in your AI answer?

If your product pages rank but a regulator, a charity or a bigger brand is the one in the AI answer, the conversation worth having is about which questions your customers ask and which of your pages could answer them.
