The Client.

As stated on their website, Copyleaks is a ‘comprehensive anti-plagiarism software that can scan documents, raw test, URLs and connect with APIs.’ They offer a 20 pages/month limited trial, enabling people to test out the product before booking a full demo or signing up.

The Objectives.

The Strategy.

The strategy began with planning out how we could remove the cannibalisation and streamline the user journey as it was causing a lot of confusion to both Google and their users.

With this in mind, we planned out how we were going merge pages that were cannibalising each other and remove the optimisation that caused it to enable positions to improve across the site and each page to have its own targeting through keyword research. This then provided us with the opportunity to reduce confusion when users are using the drop-down menu rather than having loads of the same information and having pages for the sake of it.

Once the plan was in place to make everything clearer, we started the content optimisation and had this sent to the client for approval before sending the recommendation to the developer.

The Campaign.

  • On top of this, we also planned how we would tackle the technical improvements to enhance performance and assist with E-A-T and Core Web Vital scores.
  • We also planned a link building strategy to improve the overall authority coming into the domain targeting primarily educational-based websites to ensure the topic was relevant to their offerings.
  • Additionally, we planned how we would improve the internal linking across the website to assist with passing authority around the domain and create a clearer and more user-friendly experience.
  • Once these changes had been implemented over time, we started to notice Google was no longer putting multiple pages in the SERPs for the same terms and positions started to improve.


Since working with Copyleaks, we have seen a 213% increase in organic traffic comparing Jan 2020 (2,213) to Jan 21 (6,920). Organic visibility has also risen by 61% from 591 (Oct 19) to 950 (Oct 21). Page 1 visibility has soared by 79% from 112 (Oct 19) to 200 (Oct 21).
